Before IBR Saved Me....
My future was numbered and not in a good way. I needed help and thankfully IBR stepped in. I can't say enough on how wonderful they have taken care of me and how I can never repay the generosity of all of the friends that helped me get to a better place. I may be in "foster" care, but I can tell you that I feel like I'm home! I'm loved, taken care of, as the pictures show, feeling like a million dog bones :o) These before pictures are sad, but I know I will never look like this again.
Sad, tired eyes with a glimmer of hope still alive.

A Meaningful Name with A New Beginning
It's an honor to be compared to this fine person. I only wish I could of met her. She sounds like my kind of woman!
She's a powerful, loving, gangly, dog who was on the brink...I cried when I picked her up down in that Indiana county pound. The old collar she had on her when she was abandoned there was charcoal gray at first glance, but when I removed it (since it was loose on her from all the weight loss) I realized it had been BRIGHT HOT PINK at one point. It was heartbreaking to think this emaciated little pup had had a future as bright as that pink collar at some point in her early years...and now it was a dark, dismal shade of gray when someone threw her away. Even her now rich brown spots had faded to a rusty, flat lifeless hue and the many bite marks AND OPEN GAPING SLASH WOUND on the top of her left wrist joint and damaged tail only accentuated her horrific plight!
After I delivered her to Glen Ellyn Animal Hospital for care & boarding, and until a foster home could be found, I decided to call her Helen Jane after my Mom who was born in Indiana and was once a tall, gangly, skinny teenager like this gal and who didn't take any guff from her two younger brothers, a girl who loved to creek swim, fish & hunt and later spent four years in WW II Army Evac Hospitals as a 1st Lieutenant Operating Room RN. A tough broad....just like THIS DOG, Helen Jane.
